What follows is a high-stakes journey filled with sacrifice, suspense, and vision.
Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning Review
Plus Points: There’s no denying it — Tom Cruise is the heart of the film. His dedication to stunt work remains unmatched. From underwater sequences in a submarine to nerve-wracking aerial maneuvers in a tiny plane, he commands attention throughout. The action is big, bold, and brilliantly choreographed.
Hayley Atwell brings charm and grit to the role of Grace, holding her own beside Cruise. Simon Pegg (Benji) delivers lighter moments that balance the tension, and together, the team’s chemistry works well.
Visually, the film is stunning. Fraser Taggart’s cinematography captures every detail of the explosive set pieces, while the score by Max Aruj and Alfie Godfrey heightens key moments with tension and emotion.
Minus Points: While the action is undeniably thrilling, the storyline lacks engagement. The narrative leans too heavily on spectacle, with the plot often taking a backseat. The pacing, especially in the second half, feels uneven and occasionally sluggish.
The villain, Gabriel, feels underdeveloped despite being central to the plot. His connection to Ethan is hinted at but never explored deeply enough to leave a lasting impact. For a final chapter, a more formidable and complex antagonist would have made a difference.
Additionally, longtime fans might miss the intricate spy tech, tactical missions, and clever strategies that once defined the Mission: Impossible formula. Here, those elements feel dialed down.
** The film is rated 7.9/10 according to IMDB.
